What it is
DihexA is a synthetic analogue of angiotensin IV, the fragment sitting at the far end of the renin–angiotensin cascade. It is not a conventional peptide. The molecule is a short peptidomimetic, capped at both ends with non-natural groups so that it resists the peptidases that clear angiotensin IV within minutes.
That modification is the entire design intent: angiotensin IV is interesting to neuroscience and close to useless as a research tool at its natural stability. DihexA was constructed in academic work at Washington State University to hold the pharmacophore while surviving long enough to be studied. It ships as a dry powder in a sealed vial.
What the research explores
DihexA appears in a narrow preclinical literature centred on hepatocyte growth factor and its receptor.
Areas of study:
- Interaction with hepatocyte growth factor and c-Met receptor signalling
- Dendritic spine formation and synaptogenesis in cultured hippocampal neurons
- Rodent cognition models, including water-maze paradigms following experimental cholinergic lesion
- Blood–brain-barrier permeability, a pharmacokinetic property that was a stated design goal
The c-Met pathway is also implicated in tumour biology, and that overlap remains an open question in the literature rather than a resolved one. DihexA is an investigational compound with no approved use in any species and is supplied for laboratory research only.
Questions
Why is no molecular weight listed?
Our internal record carries a figure we have not been able to reconcile against the published structure of DihexA, so we have left it off rather than print a number we cannot stand behind. The batch certificate of analysis states the analytical result for the material you receive.
Is DihexA a peptide?
Not in the ordinary sense. It is a peptidomimetic: a short backbone capped at both ends with non-natural groups, designed to hold the shape of an angiotensin IV fragment while resisting the enzymes that would otherwise clear it.
What does the certificate of analysis cover?
Identity confirmation and purity by HPLC for the specific batch in your vial, with the batch identifier matching the label. We hold one for every batch and will send the PDF on request.
How should it be stored?
Sealed, cool, dry and out of direct light. Unlike the lyophilised peptides in this catalogue, DihexA is not a straightforward candidate for reconstitution in bacteriostatic water, so solvent selection is left to the receiving laboratory.
