What it is
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from adrenocorticotropic hormone: the ACTH(4-7) fragment Met-Glu-His-Phe, extended at the C-terminus with Pro-Gly-Pro. The fragment carries none of the corticotropic activity of the parent hormone, and the added tripeptide tail slows cleavage by aminopeptidases. It is made by solid-phase synthesis.
This item ships as a prepared solution rather than a lyophilized powder — Semax in a sterile isotonic saline base, filled to 30 ml in a sealed bottle with a metered atomizing pump rated at approximately 120 actuations. Peptide content for this format is stated on the batch record rather than on this listing. Supplied for laboratory research use only.
What the research explores
Semax appears in preclinical neuropharmacology literature as a tool compound for fragment-versus-parent-hormone questions. Areas of study include:
- Melanocortin-independent activity — how an ACTH fragment stripped of the receptor-binding region behaves relative to the full hormone.
- Neurotrophin expression, principally BDNF and NGF transcript readouts in rodent brain tissue.
- Monoamine turnover — dopaminergic and serotonergic measurements in animal models.
- Peptidase resistance — degradation kinetics of the Pro-Gly-Pro extension versus the bare tetrapeptide.
These are research areas, not established effects. We make no outcome claim for this compound.
Questions
How should the bottle be stored?
Refrigerated, sealed and away from light. Solutions degrade faster than dry powder, so the cold chain matters more for this format.
Why is the peptide content not printed on the listing?
Because we publish the fill figure from the batch record rather than a catalog estimate. The lot documentation carries the number for the bottle you receive.
What does the Certificate of Analysis cover?
Identity and purity of the batch as determined by the testing lab, tied to the lot on the bottle. It is a characterization document, not a clearance for any use.
What arrives in the box?
One sealed 30 ml bottle with its metered pump, labelled with compound and lot. Research use only.
