What it is
PT-141 is a cyclic heptapeptide agonist at melanocortin receptors, structurally derived from the alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone family. Cyclisation constrains the peptide backbone into a fixed conformation, the standard medicinal-chemistry approach to improving receptor selectivity and resistance to enzymatic breakdown compared with the linear parent sequence.
