What it is
ARA-290 is a short synthetic peptide taken from helix B of erythropoietin — the face of the protein that contacts the innate repair receptor rather than the classical EPO receptor homodimer. Because it reproduces only that region, it does not carry the erythropoietic activity of the parent hormone. That separation is the whole point of the molecule in an experiment: it lets a study probe one signaling arm of erythropoietin without the other.
Made by solid-phase synthesis and shipped as a 10 mg lyophilized powder in a sealed glass vial, kept dry until a laboratory reconstitutes it. Supplied for laboratory research use only.
What the research explores
The peptide exists to dissect a receptor question, and its literature follows that. Areas of study include:
- Innate repair receptor engagement — the heteromeric complex of the EPO receptor and the beta common receptor (CD131), and how a helix B mimetic binds it.
- Dissociation of signaling arms — comparing tissue-directed signaling against the haematopoietic response driven by the EPO receptor homodimer.
- Inflammatory cell signaling in vitro, using the peptide as a receptor-selective tool.
- Structure-activity relationships of helix B mimetics — which residues of the eleven are load-bearing.
- Peptide stability and clearance kinetics relative to the full-length hormone.
Supplied as a characterized reagent. We make no claim about outcomes in any organism.
Questions
How does this differ from erythropoietin itself?
It reproduces only the helix B region of the hormone — eleven residues rather than a full glycoprotein — and engages a different receptor complex. It is not a substitute for EPO in an assay that requires the intact protein.
How should the vial be stored?
Sealed and cold as a dry powder, protected from light. Short peptides keep well lyophilized and considerably less well in solution.
What does the Certificate of Analysis cover?
Identity and purity for the batch as determined by the testing lab, tied to the lot on the vial. It characterizes the material and clears it for nothing.
What arrives in the box?
One sealed glass vial containing a 10 mg lyophilized fill, labelled with compound and lot. No diluent is included.
